Ms. Fisher’s Class – BAND / ORCHESTRA / CHOIR

Dear Parents and Friends,

These classes have been formed to give your child extra time learning to play or continuing to play an instrument, or sing in a group.

The Band/Orchestra meets on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7:30 to 8:20, after which they are joined with their homeroom class for flag ceremony, and the students from the Glenbrook side are walked across the street.

The BAND/ORCHESTRA is a wonderful combination of students that are playing an instrument of their choice, keyboard, drums, violin, flute, clarinet, trumpet, guitar, saxophone, etc. I combine their talents to performance level for our Holiday Show in December, and again next Semester for our Talent Show—our 20th Annual, I might add. All K-8 are welcome to be a part of this, providing they are ready! Instruments can be rented from “Milano Music” 480-827-1111. They have instruments to fit all sizes of people. I have a few keyboards here that would need batteries if you would like to use them.

There is no sign-up; the children are dropped off at the side gym door, facing El Pueblo, once the door is opened. We then build a list keeping track of those attending. Please consider encouraging this early commitment for your child. Music is so beneficial for each student, and to explore it further is even more beneficial.

The CHOIR meets Friday mornings, from 7:30 to 8:20. We then walk over with all the students from the El Pueblo side to lead the “Star Spangled Banner.” We also sing separately from our classes for the Holiday Show, and Talent Show. We spend time developing our sound, and singing a wide variety of song styles. It’s always a pleasure working with your children, and to use music to develop certain strengths will benefit all children.

These programs will begin the week of August 22nd. If you have further questions, please call the office to contact me. Thank you so much for being a part of our wonderful school.
